This year the pumping station on the Embankment will be decorated by the image of a gull

This year “ODK-Perm Motors” company is to complete the project of refurbishing  the pumping station façade, which will be shaped  as a silhouette of a gull flying over the Kama river. 

The preparations for the 300 anniversary of Perm cover a number of projects aimed at renovation of public areas, including the river embankment.  In 2021, two newly built areas were opened on the left bank of the river – the one including sports facilities and the amphitheatre. 

This year the pumping station will get a new façade. 

– After the reconstruction the Kama Embankment has changed drastically and has become the point of attraction to the residents. This year we are continuing the positive changes by working on the existing pumping station located near the slope from the Sobornaya Square.  This is the small green building adjusting the pedestrian area.  To fit it into the general ensemble of the Embankment it has been decided to renovate its façade; within a year this will look like a gull flying over the Kama, the basic colours being grey, light-grey and white.  The refurbishing will be completed by adding architectural illumination to the building.  The works will be effected by “ODK-Perm Motors” as part of preparation to the 300 anniversary of Perm.  It is only by joining together the efforts and resources of the local government, businesses and the public it is possible to drastically change the city environment”– noted Perm City Mayor Aleksey Demkin.

The silhouette of a gull will be placed at the second-storey level which will make it well seen both from the river side and the pedestrian zone.  It is believed that the open-work metal fencing around the pumping station will remind one of the waves, thus completing the overall image.  The silhouette itself has vertical lines which add the air and make it resemblant of the bird’s feathers.  This design also makes it possible to naturally integrate the windows. The night illumination will emphasize the whole image making it recognizable and catchy. 

By way of a reminder, the coming city’s anniversary preparation include a number of landscaping improvement projects funded by private investors and local benefactors.
